    Hydroelectric Dams in the Amazon: Governance, Adaptive Management, and Alternatives

    The Amazon Dams Research Network is pleased to announce its 3rd International Workshop with the theme “Hydroelectric in the Amazon: Governance, Adaptive Management and Alternatives”. The event will be online, in the format of thematic sessions to be held every two weeks, starting on August 7, 2020.

    This online workshop will promote an inter-, multi-, and transdisciplinary dialogue within distinct knowledge areas converging on the theme of Adaptive management and alternatives to hydroelectric dams in the Amazon. Using lessons learned and experiences from several dammed rivers in the world, the main goals of this event are to: I) Provide recommendations to improve the planning process and management of social-environmental impact of projects in the Amazon region e, 2) Present hydropower alternatives.

    From the online panels, we will generate several products aimed at different publics including: Report summarizing the event, recording of the panels available to the public and Syntheses to share on social media (blogs, posts).
